A story about our friend Zholt
Our missionaries have been attending a very poor orphanage that is located in the village of Chastlovsy just outside of town. Zholt (pronounced zsholte) was in the orphanage when we moved to Uzhgorod, Ukraine in 1995. As we began attending the orphanage, Zholt soon got saved. I remember one year when my mom was visiting, he pulled the two of us aside and said that he had something he wanted to show us. He took us to a small room about the size of a large walk in closet and told us that the director had given him the room to have small meetings for the kids. He had been praying every evening with the kids before bed and was so excited about having this room to work in. He proceeded to tell us that when he finished the orphanage he wanted to come back and continue to minister to the kids there.
God’s hand and faithfulness to Zholt has been visible through each step of his life. After finishing the orphanage Zholt spent some time in Kiev with Ywam going through their DTS (Disciplship Training School). Then he got connected with a German couple whose ministry is to orphan boys who have finished the orphanage and have no where to go. They wanted to provide a family setting and help them get some grounding in life (a job, and some basic skills like cooking, teaching them how to wisely spend money, etc). Zholt is living with this couple and calls them "Mom" and "Dad". And they have also said that by divine grace he is their son.
Within the a last year two incredible things have happened…. One, Zholt started going to the orphanage with us to minister to the kids. He went every week, but now his job being shift work at a factory doesn’t allow for him to go every week. The Lord still brought him back to the orphanage a fullfillment of something He had laid on Zholt’s heart when he was still there. Two, he told us he wanted to support our family financially. He has been faithfully giving us 100 gr. ($20) each month for the last 5 months.
When I think of Zholt, I am reminded of God’s ability to do the impossible! Zholt can tell you of God’s faithfulness. He is living proof of the fact that those who chose to walk in truth will see God’s hand and favor on their lives, they will soar as eagles no matter where they came from… God can and will do all that He has planned for our lives!!! Praise God!!!
