Sports clinics can be used to impact a nation for Christ. People of all nationalities love sports. Providing a free clinic with quality coaches and organized instruction can attract children and adults. These clinics provide a valuable service people appreciate. They are platforms which allow us to share not only our knowledge of a sport but also our testimonies of God's love and work in our own lives.

We experienced the impact sports clinics can make this past summer in Uzhgorod, Ukraine. A girls soccer team from Canada gave soccer clinics for children of all ages in one small area of town. We had 30-50 children show up on a daily basis. We would split the children into smaller groups by age and the girls would work with them teaching techniques, doing drills, etc. Then they would have a snack break, share testimonies and end with short games. For many of these children it may be the first time they had heard someone share about a personal relationship with God. At the end of the week a group of about 15 young children received Christ as their Savior.

For many Ukrainian people God is an all-powerful distant being that punishes us for what we do wrong. They have a very religious idea of who God is. We can bring them the true picture of a loving God that has already done everything in His power to bring us into an intimate relationship with Himself. Sports clinics can be just the tool you need to share your relationship with God.
