Lessons from a New Born

On December 20th, I became a father for the first time.  Aimee Marie Page was born and it was an amazing, indescribable moment.  I contacted family and friends to share our news, and we all celebrated together.  It is a day I will remember for a long time.  Since that day, there has been pretty much a constant party as people join us in this wonderful time.  When my daughter was born, and I heard that little voice cry for the first time I was filled with a joy that  overwhelmed me.

And amazingly, the joy and celebration that we experienced pales in comparison to the joy and celebration that fills heaven when one person asks Christ to come into their life.

How exciting it is to serve our God and to see lives changed as people yield to Him.  As Christians, we have a role to play in living our lives to point others toward Him and the celebration that occurs when they accept Him is beyond our comprehension.

Likewise, I am relearning the obvious.  Our daughter was born, now it is our role to protect her, feed her and help her to live in an environment that encourages growth and health.  Likewise, we are not to point people to the Kingdom only to abandon them after that.  We are to stay active in their lives, and work out our faiths together.  Life is an adventure and an exciting, one at that.  I wouldn't trade it for anything.

2007-An Awesome Year for the Kingdom!

dsc00025s.jpgHappy New Year from all of us at COI! I can't tell you how excited I am about what God has in store for this year! Around here there is a great sense of expectancy and joy for all the great things God will do!

For me, the year started with one of my favorite things: a mission outreach! COI started a base in New Orleans in thought and word days after the hurricane. As I watched the disaster unfold, I knew immediately that we needed to make a way for outreach groups to go to the Gulf Coast.

I won't forget the day I called our Canadian director, Scott Wood to tell him what God was saying to me, to find that he basically already had his bags packed to go. Two weeks after the storm, he made his way to Alabama and Mississippi, and started a base in Bayou LaBatre.

COI was so blessed to mobilize hundreds of willing workers to the area last year. In June, after much planning and a long wait for the city to open, we started in New Orleans as well. I enjoyed my time there last week, and was blessed to see all the fruit of being involved in recovery work.
